Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced mid-year 1969, the A12 Super Bee was Dodge’s ultimate budget muscle car, engineered for raw performance. Built on the B-body platform, the A12 option transformed the standard Super Bee into a drag-strip contender. At its heart was the 440-cubic-inch V8 topped with three Holley two-barrel carburetors—the legendary “Six-Pack.” Factory-rated at 390 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, this setup delivered near-Hemi performance at a fraction of the cost. Buyers could choose a heavy-duty A833 four-speed manual with a Hurst shifter as on this example, or a TorqueFlite automatic, both paired with a Dana 60 rear axle and 4.10:1 gears.
Distinctive features included a black fiberglass lift-off hood with bold “Six Pack” decals, 15-inch black steel wheels, heavy-duty suspension, and 11-inch drum brakes. Lightweight and stripped of frills, the A12 was all business, capable of quarter-mile times in the high 12-second range.
Only 1,907 A12 Six-Pack Super Bees were built, and while many forgeries exist, this one is a true A12 in largely factory specification, as validated by Mopar master Galen Govier. Showing 54,700 miles and finished in factory HEMI Orange paint, this Super Bee is documented with the original assembly line Build Sheet and known ownership history; this is truly one of the legends of the 1960s muscle car era.

Ownership History
The previous owner, the late James William Black, Jr. M.D. of Dallas, Texas, wrote on January 15th, 2001: “The 1969 ½ Dodge Super Bee is equipped with original huge cast iron exhaust manifolds and Edelbrock original six pack manifold. This matching numbers engine is completely rebuilt, with new Legendary interior and complete paint before being placed in storage 9 years ago. I rebuilt the front end with Year One parts, new brake pads, new wheel cylinders new fuel pump, new shocks in front and new air lift shocks in back. The odometer shows 53,332 miles. This is a hard top which Mopar Muscle Magazine readers voted the 1969 Super Bee Six Pack as the second most popular car just behind the Hemi Cuda.”
Dr. Black purchased the 440 Six-Pack from a fellow Texan in February 1990 showing approximately 53,000 miles. He acquired it from a Pennsylvania owner who had purchased it in 1983 from the original owner in the same state. The seller has owned this A12 since 2021.
