Description
Released under the legendary John Z. DeLorean’s watch, the 1967 Firebird was Pontiac’s entry into the emerging pony car war between the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro. The first-generation Firebird’s sophisticated design made it instantly stand out: the front end wore a split grille and recessed quad headlights, the sides were sculpted with Coke bottle-like fenders, and the rear displayed a smooth taillight panel with thin lenses. This bold design gave coupe and convertible Firebirds a subtle, European personality.
Befitting the Firebird's sporty, higher-end positioning, Morrokide vinyl bucket seats and deep-pile carpet came standard. A lengthy options list meant Firebird could be equipped with extras like a sports steering wheel, power windows and locks, rally gauge cluster, Rally II wheels, and even front disc brakes.
This first-generation Firebird blends classic looks with modern technology: it was reportedly refrubished prior to the current owner’s acquisition in 2010, and is equipped with a replacement 350ci V8, a 700R4 overdrive transmission, four-wheel power disc brakes, and a Jaguar-sourced independent rear suspension. It features a refreshed interior with aftermarket gauges, a tilt steering column, and air conditioning.
Hank’s Garage, a North Salt Lake, Utah, venue filled with classic American muscle cars, blends timeless automotive heritage with modern style to create unforgettable events. This is the first time the owner of Hank’s Garage has offered vehicles to the public. T
his 1968 Firebird is represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist and is now offered with a spare tire, jack, fire extinguisher, and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name that states “Vehicle is exempt from odometer requirements.”
