* * *

The 1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 was the final evolution of the legendary Series 1 design before the arrival of the Series 2. Models destined for the U.S. market saw minor changes, so enthusiasts generally refer to them as Series 1.5 models.

Powered by Jaguar’s 4.2-liter inline six and backed by a four-speed manual transmission, the E-Type combined race-bred engineering with grand touring comfort. Independent suspension at all four corners, four-wheel disc brakes, and sleek aerodynamic styling helped establish the model as one of the most acclaimed sports cars of its era.

This Series 1.5 is a transitional model distinguished by its open headlamps and updated switchgear. Painted silver, it now wears custom-made Union Jack-inspired vinyl graphics with red, white, and blue on the hood, roof, and body sides, similar to the star car in the "Austin Powers" films.

Other notable modifications include a refinished engine compartment and chassis components, triple Weber 40 carburetors, individual performance air cleaners, modern air-conditioning system with Sanden-style compressor, Bosch alternator conversion, heat-wrapped exhaust manifolds/headers, aftermarket head unit, and custom shift knob.

This 1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Coupe is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information

The seller's representative states, "The Union Jack is actually a vinyl graphic with silver paint underneath.  It is not a full vinyl wrap; it was done by hand cutting each color and applying them one at a time. I confirmed that they are removable, but there is no guarantee that they’re going to come off without any problems."
