Description

Introduced on 23 February 1967, the Pontiac Firebird quickly followed the Chevrolet Camaro, building internal GM competition and, naturally, a competitor to the Ford Mustang. While sharing similar body lines to the Camaro, the Firebird featured a more integrated front bumper and "slit" rear taillights similar to those seen on other Pontiac models of the era. The Firebird was available with a variety of engines, from a 231.89 cu-in overhead cam six-cylinder all the way to the fiery 400 cu-in V8 with the "Ram Air" option kit. These early Firebirds represent the purest of designs with an iconic split front grille and more integrated front bumper compared to the Camaro. Today these cars are enjoyed as restored examples or an ideal platform to blend modern performance and conveniences, just like the example on offer.
