Description
The 1967 Jaguar E-Type (XKE) Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe represents the pinnacle of British sports car design and engineering during the 1960s. Known as the E-Type in Europe and the XKE in the United States, this model combined stunning aesthetics with cutting-edge performance.
The sports car’s sleek, aerodynamic body was penned by Malcolm Sayer, a former aircraft engineer, and featured the signature long bonnet, covered headlights, and graceful fastback roofline. Even Enzo Ferrari couldn’t help but admire it, famously declaring that it was “the most beautiful car ever made.”
Under the hood, the 1967 XKE housed a robust 4.2-liter inline-six engine, producing around 265 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The Series 1 also featured independent rear suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, innovations that gave it superior handling and braking compared to many contemporaries.
This 1967 Jaguar Series 1 XKE Fixed Head Coupe is finished in Signal Red paint and black leather upholstery. The car was recently refurbished from the firewall forward — including a rebuild of its original Bill Terry 4.2 engine — and it also received a Tremec T-5 five-speed transmission, new brakes and tires, a rebuilt rear transaxle, and four new shocks, along with numerous additional upgrades with a documented cost of more than $120,000.

The Michigan seller of this 1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe has owned it since May 2014. The seller says, “This car is 90 percent restored and the numbers match. It is basically all new from the firewall forward. The last 10 percent of the restoration involves minor paint work and fitting the heat shields and some of the engine guard panels. The floor wells need to be straightened. The car drives and tracks very well.”
