Description

“How do you add excitement to an American original — an original which is already the most exciting, most acclaimed new car in history?” Ford’s Mustang brochure asked that question, then answered it with the new and improved 1967 model. The Mustang received its first major redesign that year with a wider, more aggressive front grille and concave taillights. The biggest change was a stretch in length and width on the Mustang, mostly to accommodate the new 390 cu-in V8 option, a much larger engine both physically and by displacement.

The Ford Mustang GT Fastback gained popularity after Steve McQueen tore through the streets of San Francisco in one while being chased by a Dodge Charger in the 1968 film Bullitt. This 1967 Fastback, sold the year prior, was an “S-code” option offering the highest performance engine option in ’67, the year before the legendary “R-code” Cobra Jet V8 debuted. Since undergoing a full restoration that was completed in 1992, the engine has been replaced with a 351 Cleveland V8 and given numerous performance upgrades.
