Description

Beginning in 1963 Chevrolet offered a new, forward-thinking body style for the Corvette dubbed the “Sting Ray”. Only lasting for five years (1963-1967) the C2 series is considered by some the most elegant and sporty of all Corvette generations, with head engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov purported to have said, “For the first time I now have a Corvette I can be proud to drive in Europe.” While the earlier C2s were constructed with more ornate trim, the 1967 model year is considered the most refined version of the C2 series with the removal of excess exterior trim decoration and badging and front fenders featuring five smaller but functional air vents.

These C2 Corvettes were offered with an enormous range of engine, transmission, and performance options allowing anyone in 1967 to order one all the way up to the race-special L88 engine reported to produce a ground-pounding 580 hp. Still, most buyers were perfectly happy with the standard 300 hp 327 cu-in V8, a sports car Road & Track magazine (February 1967) called “the Corvette for the thinking driver.”
