This Sport Fury left the Hamtramck assembly plant in Detroit for delivery to the San Francisco Region through Cooper Motor Company in Hayward, California. Its early history and specification are well documented thanks to its Plymouth Production Record paperwork and original sales paperwork, which are included in its history file. A Citron Gold Metallic example when new, it has since been repainted in an attractive period shade of metallic red. It was well equipped from the factory with the 383 cu-in V8 mated to a three-speed Torqueflite automatic, and boasting power steering and brakes in addition to bucket seats and a stylish black vinyl hardtop, amongst a laundry list of other factory options. With the 383 V8, the Sport Fury was one of the kings of the streets in 1966-1967, and in the words of an older enthusiast who lived through those days, “A Sport Fury could run against any Chevelle on the street.”

Today, this Sport Fury presents as a well maintained and highly usable example of this underrated, dripping with cool Mopar classic. It has been well cared for as a cherished driver in its current ownership, with maintenance entrusted to Jack Hunt Automotive of San Rafael, California. A large file of service and maintenance receipts is present in the vehicle’s history file. Cosmetically it is attractive though not show quality, with its older repaint exhibiting some flaws upon close inspection. Its black vinyl upholstery is in quite pleasing condition and the car appropriately retains its California black license plates, indicating its longtime residence in the Golden State.
