Description
The 1963-67 Corvette Sting Ray marked a bold evolution in both aesthetics and engineering. Offered as a sleek fastback coupe or a convertible, the second-generation Corvette (C2) featured a low, wide stance, a sharply pointed nose, and a gracefully tapered rear — elements that together defined a timeless sports car silhouette. Inside, the cockpit was designed with the driver in mind, rivaling the sophistication of Europe’s finest grand tourers.
Beneath its sculpted exterior, Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov crafted a chassis that balanced rigidity with a low center of gravity. The independent rear suspension with transverse leaf springs, paired with a front coil spring setup and newly introduced four-wheel disc brakes in 1965, gave the C2 remarkable handling and braking performance — making it as agile as it was beautiful.
And while the 396 debuted in 1965, many enthusiasts preferred to choose one of five available 327 V8s. RPO L76 was the top carbureted 327, featuring high compression, a high-lift cam with solid valvetrain, and a Holley four barrel that combined for 365 screaming horses.
This silver 1965 Corvette’s exterior, interior, and mechanicals were refurbished in 2001. And it is said to be a numbers-matching example with a 365-horsepower 327.

Ownership History
The consignor states, “This car has been in my family since 1979, and from my research this is a numbers-matching car except for the color. In 2001 it was refurbished and painted with the 1965 Corvette color Silver Pearl.”
“It is powered by a 327/365 horsepower engine. The car runs great and is in excellent condition, it has been driven less than 1,000 miles in the last 25 years. It has been garaged and covered during that time, and driven periodically to keep it mechanically sound.”
