Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
It was legendary racer Ken Miles who first proposed packing Ford’s powerful 427-cubic-inch NASCAR engine into the lightweight 289 Cobra chassis, leading to the debut of the Mark III Cobra in 1965. Offered in Competition, Semi-Competition (S/C), and street versions, the Cobra 427 quickly became a racing icon. Carroll Shelby built only 343 of these supercars — making them among the rarest and most sought-after Cobras ever produced.
Due to their extreme rarity and historical significance, original 427 Cobras have become too valuable to race or drive regularly. To offer enthusiasts a more accessible alternative, South African entrepreneur Jim Price founded Hi-Tech Automotive in the early 1990s with the vision of building factory-assembled component cars that captured the spirit and performance of the originals. In 1992, the first Superformance MKIII prototype was tested by former Cobra racer Bob Olthoff, and production soon followed.
Today, the Superformance MKIII is uniquely built under official license from Shelby Licensing. It combines modern engineering with period-correct styling and raw driving dynamics, delivering an authentic Cobra 427 experience. With over 2,600 MKIIIs registered, Superformance has earned a reputation as a premier builder of continuation and replica Cobras — and this one shows just 5,629 miles.
