Description
The 1964 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass 4-4-2 occupies an important place in muscle car history as Oldsmobile’s direct response to the wildly successful Pontiac GTO, helping establish the intermediate-size performance car segment that would define the mid-1960s. Introduced midway through the 1964 model year as an option package on the Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass, the 4-4-2 designation originally stood for a four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhaust.
The 1964 model year marked the debut of the 4-4-2 nameplate, which would evolve into one of the most respected muscle car brands of the era and remain part of Oldsmobile’s lineup for decades. Though overshadowed by the GTO in sales, the 1964 Cutlass 4-4-2 proved that performance could be combined with refinement and engineering sophistication, making it one of the foundational muscle cars of the 1960s.
This 1964 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass Convertible is finished in dark red with a black convertible top and a black interior. Inside, features include bucket seats with a center console housing a tachometer, and dash-mounted auxiliary gauges. It rolls on staggered Mastercraft/BF Goodrich tires wrapped around 15" chrome Torq-Thrust style wheels. Under the hood sits a carbureted 330ci V8 mated to an automatic transmission. This F-85 is equipped with both power steering and power front disc brakes.
While not originally a 442, this example has been fitted with 442 badging and trim in the style of the performance-oriented original.
The car was acquired by the seller in 2023, who reports that it was repainted at that time.
This 1964 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass Convertible is now offered with a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information
The seller states, "A local restoration shop professionally restored this car three years ago. The car has a beautiful cherry red paint job and a new convertible top. The front and rear shocks on the car are weak, and when larger dips are run over, the tires rub the inside wheel well."
