The 1965 Ford Mustang marked the first full production year of Ford’s groundbreaking “pony car,” a new class of sporty, affordable coupes aimed at younger buyers. Introduced in April 1964, early models — often called 1964½ Mustangs — generated unprecedented excitement, prompting Ford to refine and expand the line for the 1965 model year.
The ’64 Mustang offered a wide range of options, from economical six‑cylinders to powerful V8s, allowing buyers to tailor the car to their tastes and budget. Its long-hood/short-deck styling, combined with customizable interiors and performance packages, helped it stand out in a competitive market. Ford produced convertibles, fastbacks, and coupes, and by the end of 1965, Mustang sales soared past the million‑unit mark.
This early production Mustang Hardtop was built in Dearborn, Michigan, with a sporty specification including the 289ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The car has been refinished in Rangoon Red paint and wears black vinyl upholstery and black carpeting. It's equipped with wire wheel covers outside, while its interior features bucket front seats, a center console, and an AM radio.
This 1964 Ford Mustang coupe is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer in North Carolina with a trunk mat and a clean Pennsylvania title.
