Description
The 1964 Corvette Sting Ray marked the second year of the revolutionary C2 generation, blending race-inspired engineering with sleek styling. Building on the success of 1963 Sting Ray, the 1964 model refined details for improved comfort and performance.
The car retained its convertible and aerodynamic fastback coupe body styles (minus the ’63 coupe’s split rear window). Under the hood, the standard 327-cubic-inch V8 delivered 250 horsepower, with optional high-performance versions reaching up to 375 horsepower with fuel injection. A new Muncie four-speed manual transmission replaced the Borg-Warner unit (an automatic gearbox was also available), and suspension tweaks enhanced handling. Cosmetic updates included smoother rocker panels and the removal of hood vents, while the interior gained improved trim and sound insulation.
Originally finished in Tuxedo Black, this 1964 Corvette Convertible was refinished in maroon paint in 2013-14, and reportedly also received a new convertible top. The seller states that it has been driven approximately 25 miles since then. Power comes from a 327ci V8 engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The car retains its factory bucket seats, black vinyl upholstery, wood-rimmed steering wheel, vertical AM/FM radio, instrumentation, and a color-matched removable hard top that was refinished at the same time as the car, but never reinstalled.
This C2 has been kept within the same Ohio family since 2007, and is now offered with the hard top and a clean title in the seller’s name.
