The 1963 Silver Cloud III represented a watershed moment for Rolls-Royce, combining the traditional luxury elements they are renowned for while seamlessly intertwining a newfound sense of modernity. Its 6.2-liter V8 engine, an improvement over the previous Silver Cloud II, upheld the Rolls-Royce ideal of gradual refinement, delivering reassuringly silent performance. However, the Silver Cloud III also signaled the company's first foray into contemporary styling, with quad headlamps, a lowered hood and radiator shell, and sleeker bumpers, all adding a touch of modern flair. Inside, the interior retained its timeless craftsmanship the marque was renowned for, with generous amounts of Connolly leather and opulent Carpathian burl wood trim to the bespoke requests of its owner retaining the timeless craftsmanship that Rolls-Royce was renowned for. This model not only continued Rolls-Royce's legacy of automotive excellence but also demonstrated its ability to adapt to evolving tastes while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and luxury. 

This California “black plate” Silver Cloud was previously owned by Grammy Award winner Mel Tormé, which he fitted with a custom sound system in the 1990s said to cost a then shocking $10,000.

Ownership History 

This Silver Cloud was previously owned by Grammy Award winner Mel Tormé. This Silver Cloud was serviced at the selling dealership for the first 25 years of its life. It joined The Carolina Collection in 2000. The interior was restored with Rolls-Royce carpeting and Connolly hides at a cost of $14,000. It has been well cared for and enjoyed by the owner for the past 25 years and driven just over 5,000 miles.
