Description

“It’s easy to understand why so many Cadillac owners are switching to this car,” wrote Car Life magazine in 1961. “The way the car is put together; the fit of the doors, the quality of every detail is such that you can’t but be impressed.” For 1963, the 220 Series was available as a four-door sedan, two-door coupe, or the convertible Cabriolet with prices ranging from $4350 to $9560. All exuded that classic elegance that helped bring Mercedes-Benz to a wider American audience, and were well appointed with a tachometer, leather upholstery, and a four-speed automatic transmission.

This Mercedes-Benz 220 SEb Cabriolet has been reimagined with a 2.8-liter M130 inline-six with Bosch mechanical fuel injection replacing the original 2.2-liter unit, mated to the four-speed automatic with the addition of front disc brakes. The Cabriolet is finished in White with a light red soft top and a brown top boot. The interior features saddle leather upholstery, polished walnut trim, Kühlmeister air conditioning, a VDO analog clock, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, and a Becker Mexico radio. European-market Bosch headlights, 14-inch steel wheels with polished covers and body color inserts, and bright wheel arch trim complete the unforgettable impression.
