Description
“Sweptline Styling — Modern lines for modern hauling.” The 1961 Dodge D100 marked the beginning of Dodge’s radically redesigned D-series pickups, introducing a modern look for the brand. Built on the new AD platform, the D100 featured the innovative “Sweptline” bed design with integrated cab steps and a wide, flat hood accented by faux louvers. It was the first Dodge truck to use Chrysler’s famous Slant Six engine as standard, offering improved durability and efficiency. Notably, 1961 was the first year Dodge equipped its trucks with alternators, a significant advancement in electrical systems. The D100 came in multiple wheelbases and bed lengths, catering to work and utility needs. Produced at the Warren Truck Plant in Michigan, the D100 set the tone for Dodge pickups through the 1960s.
Powered by its factory 225ci Slant Six engine, this 1961 Dodge D100 has been refurbished mechanically, but keeps the patina and blemishes of time. Crew Signs of Walterboro, South Carolina, lettered the D100 to look like the shop truck used by Burnside Dodge of Charleston, South Carolina, a long-time dealer in that area.
This D100 is now offered on behalf of the current owner by a Broad Arrow Specialist.
