Description
The MGA entered the market in 1955 as a clean break from the upright, separate-fender styling of the T-series — a fully enveloped body, a lower center of gravity, and a more modern chassis.
The 1600 designation, introduced for 1959, brought a displacement increase to 1,588cc and, more significantly, front disc brakes as standard equipment. The MGA 1600 remained in production through 1961.
This 1960 MGA 1600 is finished in red over a tan interior and was reportedly held by a single family from the mid-1970s until 2020, when it was acquired by the current owner and sent to Tuxedo Motorsport in New Jersey for body refurbishment and a repaint. Work at that time included panel realignment, replacement body piping, and fitting a new front grille. Additional mechanical work said to have been performed under the seller's ownership includes replacement of the starter, clutch, and battery.
The tan interior kit, which was installed in 2017 prior to the seller’s acquisition, seats the driver and passenger behind a faux wood dashboard with Smiths instrumentation. A side mirror has been fitted, and the car is not currently equipped with a folding roof.
This 1960 MG MGA 1600 is offered with a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
