Description

In 1958, the Corvette was restyled, and the widespread use of chrome reflected the dominant design trend of the late 1950s. The single headlight setup was replaced by dual exposed headlights positioned above chrome-accented grilles. Chrome strips extended along the trunk, while the model’s signature “washboard” hood and rear bumperettes became distinctive features exclusive to that year. Inside, the redesigned cabin introduced factory-installed seatbelts and a striking new dashboard layout. The 7,000-rpm tachometer was placed right in front of the 160-mph speedometer, allowing the driver to keep their eyes on the revs and the road.

Under the hood, even the base Corvette got a 230-horsepower 283 V8 — good power for a 3,000-pound sports car. However, serious enthusiasts chose the Ramjet fuel-injected 283. For 1958, the high-tech FI unit received more accurate air/fuel ratio control and more reliability, with solid-cam versions producing 290 horsepower at a screaming 6,200 rpm.

This 1958 Corvette presents in rare Panama Yellow, with 455 painted that color — and only 190 produced with a Snowcrest White cove. Its cracked original block was replaced with a correct, re-stamped CS-code 290-hp fuel-injected 283, which sends power through a synchronized 4-speed manual transmission. The seller reportedly purchased it after C1 restorer Ron Daniels had done the restoration work, and it shows only 2,100 miles since refurbishment.

This factory fuel-injected Corvette is now offered on behalf of the current owner with current Georgia registration.
