The 1958 BMW Isetta 300 remains one of the most distinctive and beloved microcars ever produced—a tiny machine that helped rescue BMW at a pivotal moment. Originally conceived by the Italian firm Iso as a compact, egg‑shaped city car, the Isetta caught BMW’s attention in the early 1950s when the company was struggling financially and lacked an affordable small vehicle. BMW licensed the design in 1954 and completely re‑engineered it, replacing the original two‑stroke engine with their own rugged 298 cc four‑stroke motorcycle unit.

By 1958, the Isetta 300 had evolved into the definitive version of the model, offering a perfect blend of charm, economy, and practicality. Its iconic bubble‑like silhouette, wrap‑around windows, and trademark single front door made it instantly recognizable, while its diminutive size allowed it to navigate postwar European cities with ease. Despite its toy‑like appearance, the Isetta was mechanically robust, and for many families, it served as an affordable first step into automobile ownership, bridging the gap between motorcycles and conventional cars.

This bright red Isetta features cream vinyl upholstery, and a manual canvas sunroof. Its 289cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine is mated with a four-speed manual transmission.

This 1958 BMW Isetta 300 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean Oklahoma title.
