Description
The 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria debuted as the top trim in Ford’s newly introduced Fairlane series, replacing the Crestline as the brand’s premium offering. Its defining feature was a distinctive chrome “basket‑handle” roof pillar, adapted from the Mercury XM-800 concept, giving the hardtop a futuristic look emblematic of mid‑’50s styling trends. Ford also launched a redesigned body for 1955 to compete with Chevrolet and Plymouth, pairing the Crown Victoria’s bold two‑tone paint and wraparound windshield with updated powertrains, including the popular 272ci Y‑block V8. Although visually striking, it was produced only for the 1955 and 1956 model years.
This 1955 Fairlane Crown Victoria was the subject of an older refurbishment and is refinished in purple and white. Power is provided by a replacement 272ci Y-block V8 and sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Exterior details include chrome-finished bumpers with overriders and guard bars, as well as amber driving lights, dual articulating spotlights, rear fender skirts, and a continental kit with body-color tire cover. Inside, white vinyl upholstery with pleated pink inserts is joined by color-coordinated trim.
This Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria is now offered with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
