Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

All-new for 1955, Chrysler’s line of New Yorker coupes and convertibles were the stars of their “100-Million-Dollar Look!” advertising campaign. The New Yorker embodied the new-look elegance and style of the mid-1950s, featuring a distinctive design with sleek, chrome-accented bodywork, and a profile that was significantly lower and wider than the outgoing model. Under the hood, it was powered by a Hemi “FirePower” V8 engine that delivered impressive horsepower and torque, making it a favorite among those looking to stretch their legs on America’s new Eisenhower Interstate System. Inside, the New Yorker boasted a spacious and luxurious interior with comfortable seating and a range of modern amenities for its time, showcasing Chrysler's commitment to both style and comfort innovation.

The New Yorker was offered in six different body styles, a six passenger sedan and the Town & Country wagon among them, but none of them had the panache of the Deluxe Convertible Coupe. The New Yorker’s fresh styling appeared as though it was designed with this particular body style in mind. The Deluxe Convertible Coupe features prominent chromework from the new “massive” divided grille, down the flanks with tip-to-tail brightwork that subtly incorporates a two-tone livery and rear “New Yorker Deluxe'' badging. At the back, there is — naturally — more chrome, with dual reverse lamps and Chrysler‘s famous “Twin-tower” taillights. Rightly proud of their new creation, Chrysler branded the New Yorker “America’s Most Smartly Different Car.”
