Description
The Austin-Healey 100 BN1 debuted in 1953 as a collaboration between Donald Healey and Austin, aiming to create an affordable yet high-performance British sports car. Its name, “100,” signified its ability to reach 100 mph — a remarkable feat for the era.
Powered by a 2,660cc four-cylinder engine producing 90 horsepower, the BN1 featured a sleek, low-slung body. Another 100 signature is the fold-back adjustable one-piece windshield, which slid down and forward to dramatically streamline its lines and add another dimension to wind-in-the-hair motoring. This classic British roadster was built on a lightweight chassis with independent front suspension that delivered agile handling in tune with its impressive performance.
The BN1 was paired with a three-speed gearbox and overdrive on all three ratios, distinguishing it from the later BN2, which adopted a four-speed transmission.
This left-hand-drive 100 BN1 has been repainted in Carmine Red over a black vinyl interior with red piping. It features a tan convertible top, and it rides on Dunlop wire wheels with chrome two-eared knockoff hubs. It features Smiths instrumentation inside.
This 1954 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 is offered by the selling dealer in California with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Oklahoma title.
