Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1953 MG TD was the final year of production for the TD series, which ran from 1950 to 1953 and marked a major evolution in MG’s iconic T-series sports cars. Introduced as a successor to the TC, the TD combined classic British styling with significant mechanical improvements, including independent front suspension with coil springs, rack-and-pinion steering, and a wider track for improved handling and comfort.
Power came from the proven 1,250cc inline-four engine, producing about 54 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The TD was also offered in left-hand drive, making it highly appealing to the American market. Performance was modest by modern standards, with a top speed around 77 mph and 0–60 mph in roughly 18 seconds, but its nimble handling and open-air charm won enthusiasts over.
Finished in red paired with a tan convertible soft top and black leather upholstery, this 1953 example was purchased by the seller in 1978, comprehensively refurbished in the 1990s, and received nearly $8,000 in servicing during August 2024 after sitting for approximately 20 years, as detailed in this listing below.
This TD is now offered at no reserve on consignment from the current owner with a receipt for the August 2024 servicing and a clean Colorado title.

Ownership History
This 1953 MG TD is offered on consignment for the current owner, who purchased the vehicle in 1978 at a dealer in Boulder, Colorado. This MG TD was reportedly restored in the mid 1990s and enjoyed sparingly as a parade and show car, though records of the work performed have been lost. Detailed photos in the gallery highlight the level of work performed, and the owner states that few miles have been driven since restoration. After sitting for roughly 20 years, the vehicle received work in August 2024 to be enjoyed reliably while anticipating a sale in the near future.

Spare wheel/tire
New brass hammer and wooden knock-off wrench
