Description

The 1953 GMC 1/2-Ton Panel Truck represents a classic example of mid-century American utility vehicles, combining rugged construction with timeless styling. Built on GMC’s light-duty platform, these panel trucks were favored by tradesmen for their versatility and durability.

This 1953 GMC 1/2-Ton Panel Truck is said to largely retain its factory configuration and mechanical components. Refinished in its correct GMC green color over a grey vinyl and carpeted interior with wood accents and a carpeted cargo area, it features a two-door panel van delivery configuration with rear barn doors. The chassis number decodes as a 1/2-ton GMC light-duty series with a 122-inch wheelbase and conventional cab layout. It is powered by a 228 cubic-inch inline-six engine paired to a three-speed column-shift manual transmission.

The seller, a claimed lifelong mechanic and restoration shop owner, states the paint and bodywork were done prior to his acquisition, and he finished the mechanical refresh himself, with less than 1,000 miles reportedly added since.

This 1953 GMC 1/2 Ton Panel Truck is now offered with a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.

Servicing

From the seller: “I own and operate Vintage Truck Resurrection. I’ve worked on and restored vehicles my whole life. I’ve been a diesel and a general service mechanic. I’ve done it all. I’ve been working on these things since 1979. I purchased this truck three years ago—the paint and interior were already done, but I did all the powertrain and drivetrain on it. This truck has less than 1,000 miles since completing the restoration. It’s got all new fluids, filters, belts, etcetera—I did all the work myself. It all works, and it starts, shifts, drives, and stops well.”

Known Imperfections

  • Running boards have some rust and imperfections from use

  • Cosmetic imperfections consistent with age

  • Cargo area shows signs of utility use

Ownership History

From the seller: “I bought this truck three years ago and finished the restoration. It retains its period-correct powertrain, drivetrain, and aesthetics inside and out. It is ready to go—this truck drives perfect!”

Included Items

  • Spare tire mounted with original spare tire hanger

  • Two sets of keys
