Description

The 1951 MG TD played a pivotal role in popularizing European roadsters in postwar America. Produced by MG (Morris Garages), the TD combined the traditional styling of its predecessor, the TC, with modern engineering improvements. It featured a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four engine, producing around 54 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission.

While modest in power, the TD was praised for its nimble handling and lightweight design. One of the TD’s most notable upgrades was its independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, which significantly improved ride comfort and control. It also adopted a more robust chassis derived from the MG Y-type saloon.

This MG TD received refurbishment work in 2019 and is refinished in white with black fenders. Red grille inserts are complemented by painted 15” wire-spoke wheels, and the car is equipped with a black convertible top and a color-coordinated top boot. Additional exterior features include a fold-down windscreen, a rear tire carrier, driving lights, polished trim, and rear-hinged doors. The interior has been re-trimmed in red upholstery, and a banjo-style steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation.
