Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. This special offering is once again a presentation of the unique, with American Muscle, British class, and heavy post war iron from multiple platforms all on offer. These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.    * * *

The 1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible represented the pinnacle of Lincoln luxury in the early postwar era. Introduced in 1949 as Lincoln’s flagship line, the Cosmopolitan embodied modern design with its clean slab‑sided body, integrated fenders, and a long, imposing stance.

By 1951, the model had refined its identity with subtle styling updates, improved trim, and Lincoln’s powerful 337‑cubic‑inch flathead V8. As Lincoln’s top‑tier open car, the Cosmopolitan Convertible offered premium features such as power windows, power seats, and a hydraulically operated top, placing it firmly in the luxury class.

Only 857 hand‑finished convertibles were built for 1951, and according to data compiled from the Lincoln & Continental Owners Club registry, auction archives, and the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation, it is estimated that fewer than 75 of the are known to survive.

This example has been refinished in Capri Blue with a dark blue, power-assisted hydraulic convertible soft top, and its Jet Age design includes a bullet-style front bumper and Art Deco tail lamps. Additional features include an optional driver’s side spotlight, rear fender skirts, two-tone blue leather upholstery, power windows, and wide whitewall tires.

This 1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist in Georgia with a convertible boot cover, car cover, and an Alabama registration.
