Chevrolet overhauled its entire lineup in 1949, moving from prewar designs to brand new cars with modern full-width bodies and pontoon fenders. The division offered Special and Deluxe models in both Fleetline and Styleline series.
Buyers could buy a bare bones business coupe for as little as $1,300 or pony up $2,200 for an eight-passenger station wagon; virtually every body type and price level was offered in between. The only powertrain available was a 216-cubic-inch six-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission.
The 1951 model year saw some minor updates, including a new grille design and improved interior features, but a previous owner of this ’51 Chevrolet Styleline Two-Door Coupe went far beyond that, adding a Chevy 305 V8 and 350 Turbo automatic transmission.
