Description
The 1948 Ford marked the final year of Ford’s prewar design lineage before the introduction of its modern postwar models. Built on a 114-inch wheelbase, it featured a steel body and rear-wheel drive layout.
1948 Fords showcased the rounded front fenders and wide chrome grille that were hallmarks of prewar styling. The rear wore integrated taillights, as well as an oval rear window. Smooth, flowing quarter panels and pronounced wheel arches gave the coupe a streamlined, elegant silhouette.
Power was supplied by either a 239 cu-in V8 or a 226 cu-in inline-six, paired with a three-speed manual, with a leaf spring suspension handling the bumps.
These days, the Five-Window Coupe is a popular model among collectors for its distinctive styling and postwar charm, and many are customized to their owners’ tastes. This 1948 Ford Deluxe Five-Window Coupe has been refinished in stunning black paint, wears disc brakes behind chrome wheels, offers several creature comforts like air conditioning, and is powered by a small-block Chevy V8.
