Introduced as Ford’s sole open body style for 1940, the De Luxe Convertible Club Coupe combined streamlined styling with practical four-passenger accommodations. Its redesigned front end featured sealed-beam headlamps and a distinctive low, horizontal grille, while a power-operated folding top added convenience. Beneath the hood, Ford’s proven 221-cubic-inch flathead V-8 delivered smooth, dependable performance through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Hydraulic four-wheel drum brakes complemented its traditional rear-wheel-drive chassis.
Priced from $850, the Convertible Club Coupe ranked among Ford’s most expensive offerings and was exclusive to the De Luxe line. With 23,704 produced, it blended handsome proportions and meaningful advances in comfort and usability.
Dave Neuman’s Convertible Club Coupe has undergone a frame-off restoration by Michael Kubarth, regarded as the foremost authority on 1940 Fords, and Charlie Swindler. It’s finished in factory Folkstone Gray with a red leather interior by LeBaron Bonney. Features include a working Columbia overdrive, radio, hot air heater, rear bumper stone guard, grille guard, correct factory fender skirts, and accessory trim rings. A large number of NOS parts were used in the restoration.
This 1940 Ford De Luxe Convertible Club Coupe is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its current owner with a clean Wisconsin title.

Additional Information
The selling broker states, “Mechanically, it is one of the nicest 1940s Fords we have driven. No chatter, rattles, smooth shifting, just an amazing time capsule. The power top also works effortlessly. Note the tires are older and should be replaced just due to age and an abundance of caution. This vehicle has been stored for a number of years and should probably be safety checked prior to street use.
“Cosmetically, the paint is amazing, but it does have a bit of small checking in spots as shown. The door jambs and door corners are remarkable; the frame and floor pans are outstanding.
“Due to the age and nature of collector automobiles, we cannot guarantee that every vehicle function will work as it originally did when the vehicle was new. These components are typically 30-60 years old or more and may need attention and service.
“In addition, many of our vehicles are from estates and have been stored and not driven. When vehicles sit for periods of time or once they are driven, issues can arise without warning.
“Due to age, all vehicles are sold strictly as-is without warranty or set aside. Pre-purchase inspections are encouraged and welcome while the auction is running.”
