What is classified as a modified vehicle?
- Hot rods and street rods: Typically pre-1950 American vehicles with large engines, detailed paint jobs, and structural modifications.
- Resto mod classics: Vehicles with a modernized drive train and safety features.
- Pro-street high-horsepower vehicles: These vehicles are tubbed and caged.
- Custom cruisers: 1960s and newer big-bodied vehicles with 22” rims or wire spoke-type wheels.
- Custom imports: Generally 1980s and newer Japanese and European cars with performance and/or aesthetic upgrades.
- Replicas: Duplicate vehicles that are no longer in production, such as '50s Porsche Speedsters or '20s Mercedes Benz Roadsters.

Vehicle under construction
For cars that are actively being worked on, Hagerty offers Vehicle Under Construction, which automatically increases your car’s Guaranteed Value® by 10% per quarter up to a maximum increase of $25,000 and offers $750 of coverage for automotive tools.
