Description
After the two-seat 1991 Syclone outran a Ferrari, power-mad GMC turned its gaze to the innocent two-door Jimmy SUV. It summoned specialty manufacturer Production Automotive Services (PAS), pointed to the Syclone’s turbocharged, all-wheel drive design, and said, “Now, let’s give four people whiplash.” And a Typhoon formed.
PAS took production 4.3-liter V6s, modified them for big flow and turbo boost, and bolted the 280 horsepower and 350 lb-ft. engines to four-speed automatics and all-wheel-drive systems. That potent powertrain was shoehorned into the two-row Jimmy body, which now wore an aggressive front air dam with fog lights, ground effects, and stylish wheels wearing sticky tires.
After applying brake and throttle to build boost, the Typhoon screamed. Car and Driver exclaimed, “The sprint from 0 to 60 mph takes—get this, SUV mavens—just 5.3 seconds…enough to humiliate such standouts as the Ferrari 348ts and the Ford Mustang V-8…The quarter-mile comes up in just 14.1 seconds at 95 mph. The Typhoon’s top-gear acceleration times are among the quickest we have ever recorded for any vehicle.”
Showing just 45,000 miles, this particular Typhoon is one of only 518 Frost White 1992 models made. It features tasteful modifications like C4 Corvette ZR-1 wheels, a stainless steel exhaust system, and more, and has had a recent paint correction and servicing completed in preparation for sale. Also note the MOMO Prototipo steering wheel with a “prancing horse” steering wheel button...in no way meant to troll a certain Italian car manufacturer.
This low-mile Typhoon is now offered with a clean CARFAX history report, NOS Typhoon front floor mats, owner's manuals, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information
From the seller: “I am the third-owner of this 1992 GMC Typhoon. The first owner was a little old lady who bought it new back in the day. She also had a Buick Grand National which belonged to her son, and a flipper acquired both to sell. The Typhoon had 36k miles when I went to buy it in Cleburne, Texas in 2019.
After buying the Typhoon, I contacted my mechanic who is also a Syclone enthusiast so that he could service it from front to back. We suspected that it was under a carport, since the grey cladding was sun faded. My mechanic proceeded to replace anything as needed. I’ve been a Radwood Austin participant for the last five years.”
