Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The second generation of Ford’s successful F-Series pickup became available for the 1953 model year with an updated chassis, improved engines, and new “driverized” cabs. Features of these redesigned driver-engineered interiors included improved control locations, sound deadening in the doors, and a wider bench seat to fit three comfortably. But more momentous that year was the introduction of Ford’s first modern overhead valve V8, the “Y-block,” which finally replaced the long-running Ford “flathead” V8. The only significant revision of the second generation F-Series arrived in 1956 and centered around a wrap-around windshield, new doors, and a redesigned dashboard, making them the most unique and collectible of their generation. Among the first post-war pickups to gain collector status, the second generation of Ford’s F-Series trucks have long been candidates for engine swaps and custom builds, making honest examples like this increasingly rare today.
