Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

With the muscle car wars of the 1960s coming to an end with ever-increasing fuel economy standards and emissions regulations, the Chrysler Corporation gave one last breath of this performance to the Plymouth Scamp. The Scamp was the smallest hardtop coupe on offer from Plymouth and the perfect starting point for a muscle car. While the base engine was a 198 cu-in 'slant' six, owners could select a 318 cu-in V8, transforming the car from a relaxed cruiser into a real ground pounder. Additional options like the heavy-duty suspension and locking rear differentials only added to the appeal. As when new, these cars are embraced by enthusiasts looking for something different from the more commonly seen Camaros and Mustangs.

Highlights

  • Single-family ownership since new; purchased by current owner's father in 1972

  • Complete body off restoration totaling in excess of $120,000 by Paul's Rod and Restos in Long Island, New York

  • A lightly resto-moded example that increased driveability while keeping the aesthetics in line with his father's original purchase

  • Finished in Forrest Green Metallic with a complementing full green vinyl roof and interior

  • The original 'slant six' has been upgraded with a 318 cu-in V8 crate engine and dual exhaust

  • Brakes upgraded to discs in the front, and larger drums in the rear

  • The standard steel wheels have been upgraded to a CRAGAR Mag wheel with polished spokes and contrasting black centers

  • Equipped with torsion bar front suspension and multi-leaf rear to create a sporting yet compliant car

  • The simulated wood grain dash provides a rich contrast to the green interior
