2016 Chevrolet SS
8-cyl. 376cid/415hp SFI
With an experienced team and a lot of data.
The 2016 Chevrolet SS is the ideal performance sedan for the commuter who wants to let loose on back roads. It is a sensible five-passenger sedan with a spacious back seat and trunk. Its production run only lasted four years, and in its third (2016), it received some subtle changes to the grille and lower front fascia. It remained a sleeper, however, and the casual observer wouldn’t think it was much more than a big Chevy sedan. The 2016 SS carried a base price of around $48,000.
The SS came standard with a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 borrowed from the Corvette. In the SS, it puts out 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Chevy SS also came standard with Magnetic Ride Control with three settings. These drive mode settings also manage the throttle response and shift mapping for the automatic transmission. For 2016, the SS added the previously optional dual-mode exhaust as standard. This feature can muffle the exhaust, or let it fly free, and is controlled either manually or as part of the drive-mode selection.
The 2016 Chevrolet SS comes very well equipped, with standard dual-zone climate control, leather seating, a wi-fi hot spot, and a 9-speaker Bose premium sound system. The SS also comes with the Chevy MyLink infotainment system with standard navigation, both operable through the standard 8-inch touchscreen.
There are also a host of standard safety features on the SS. These include forward collision alert, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic assist. It also comes standard with a head-up display, providing safety and performance status updates.
