Representing the pinnacle of luxury from Nissan, the President was the flagship model of the Japanese automaker, first debuting in 1965 and was produced until 2010 across four different generations. As one of the most refined model years of the second-generation stately luxury sedan, this 1988 model includes many desirable enhancements made to the third-generation President after it was first released in 1973. With improved suspension, a larger fuel tank, new instrument cluster and dashboard, a new grille, and the replacement of the round headlights with square halogen versions all being introduced in 1982, an additional Sovereign VIP trim with air-sprung rear seats was added in January 1985. Never sold in the American market, the Nissan President remains a highly coveted and rarely seen Japanese collector vehicle of which very few currently reside in the United States.
