Nissan announced the latest model in a long lineage of sporty Z cars dating back to 1969 ahead of the New York International Auto Show in August 2021. Simply dubbed the “Z,” the much-anticipated sports coupe retained the tried and tested rear-wheel-drive, two-seater formula of past Zs, now with a scorching 400 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V6. Best of all, the capable engine could be paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A thoroughly modern, angular exterior brought the Z into the twenty-first century, while the interior also received a host of improvements including an eight inch infotainment display and digital gauges. At launch, Nissan announced that 240 units of a limited edition, manual-only Z Proto Spec would be available worldwide. These rare variants wore the same unique livery and interior treatments as the Nissan Z Proto concept, including its black and yellow exterior color, bronze wheels with yellow brake calipers, black seats with yellow stitching and accents, and a yellow shift knob.
