Description
After the sixth-generation Corvette was released in 2005, GM was dealing with an enviable problem: the base C6 was a quick, refined machine, but enthusiasts yearned for the more-expensive Z06’s wide body. However, the 427-powered Z06 was a street-legal racecar that was only available as a manual-transmission hardtop.
So in 2010, the Corvette team unveiled one of the best compromises ever built: the Grand Sport. Mechanically, the 2010–2013 GS combined the base car’s 430-horsepower LS3 engine, steel frame, and smooth-riding performance suspension with the Z06’s wider track, larger tires, and bigger brake rotors. Visually, the Grand Sport wore a wide, Z06-style body with bulging fenders, a front air intake, and rear brake ducts. The result was a sports car that hustled around GM’s Milford road course two seconds quicker than a Z51-suspension C6, yet could also be ordered with a convertible top and an automatic for laid-back cruising.
Showing just 14,800 miles, this 2012 Grand Sport Convertible is one of only 2,268 built that year. It is finished in Velocity Yellow, with matching yellow brake calipers and black headlamp housings. It features the optional $11,495 4LT Premium Equipment Group package including a "custom" leather interior package, and is also optioned with chrome-finished wheels and a dual-mode performance exhaust system.
This nicely-optioned, low-mile Grand Sport is now offered with a clean CARFAX history report, its original window sticker, service records since 2012, and a clean Arizona title in the seller's name.
