So by 2007, the 997.1-generation Porsche 911 Turbo was a highly refined, brutally fast machine. Its 3.6L, twin-turbocharged flat-six engine hissed out 480 horsepower — helped in part by cutting-edge, quick-spooling Variable Turbine Geometry turbos. And it didn’t matter whether the driver chose manual or automatic: Car and Driver shot its Turbo tester from 0–60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, stating “the Tiptronic edges out the manual in the 11.6 quarter-mile…and it stays ahead, hitting 160 mph in 22.1 seconds.” Thankfully, it's also equipped with massive brakes that quickly slow the sensually shaped Turbo — wearing scalloped air intakes, fascias, and a two-tiered rear wing — down from speed.
