Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 2006 Dodge Charger NASCAR Cup Series race cars represented Dodge’s strongest period of success during its modern return to the sport. Introduced for the 2005 season, the Charger replaced the Dodge Intrepid and marked the brand’s shift back to a rear‑wheel‑drive, muscle‑car identity that aligned closely with NASCAR’s traditional image.
Dodge fielded competitive programs through Evernham Motorsports, Ganassi Racing, Petty Enterprises, and Penske Racing. Penske’s Dodge program was highly competitive in this era.
This 2006 Dodge Charger Cup Series racer is believed to have been built by noted chassis expert Steve Leavitt out of his Mooresville, North Carolina, shop. While Penske Racing owned some Steve Leavitt Racing cars, SLR 1206 is not one of them, and the history of this car remains to be discovered. NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow (COT) program was phased in during the 2007 season, and by 2008 bodies like SLR 1206 were obsolete. As with many obsolete race cars, SLR 1206 may have been repurposed as a traveling promotional display, appearing at car shows and other events in the livery of Penske’s No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger—its street-spec 318ci engine and automatic transmission used simply to move the racer.
This 2006 Dodge Charger NASCAR Cup Series Race Car is now represented on behalf of its current owner at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a Bill of Sale.

Additional Information
Tammy Strait of the Team Penske museum and archives states, “I am sorry to inform you that we cannot authenticate this chassis as a Penske chassis. The chassis number on the frame does not match our standard format. It appears that this was a SLR chassis, and while we did own a couple of them around the time of the introduction of the COT chassis, we never raced them.”
