In 2003, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a beautiful compromise: the second-generation CLK. Its SL-like styling — with an aggressive nose, curving side profile, and sculpted rear end — wooed practical enthusiasts, especially since the CLK offered ample rear seat room that could accommodate full-size adults. That adulation continued in 2004, when the CLK Cabriolet debuted. It featured an insulated fabric soft top for more warmth and less noise, and a 20-second retraction time provided an unparalleled view of the luxurious interior with leather upholstery, a purpose-built instrument cluster, and all of the opulent trimmings.

Factoring in its new strut-enhanced suspension, new rack and pinion steering, powerful disc brakes, and available 302-horsepower 5.0L V8, and the CLK Cabriolet was one of the most capable and luxurious drop tops on the road.
