Description
The R230 generation of Mercedes-Benz’s SL-Class first debuted at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the very first car appearing on the road as an F1 safety car at the 2001 German Grand Prix in Hockenheim. The SL55 AMG was produced from 2002-06, featuring a 5.5L supercharged V8 producing a reported 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
SL55 AMGs featured a three-slat grille with a reported top speed limited to 155 mph and could be unlocked to a reported 186 mph for an additional cost. It’s been claimed that the SL55 AMG can reach 208 mph without an electronic speed limiter.
This SL55 AMG had a $132,335 retail price according to the window sticker included in the photo gallery. Factory options include a panoramic glass roof within the folding hard top, Distronic, Parktronic, Active Ventilated Seats, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, and Keyless Go.
