“Maserati’s Spyder will lead the brand’s return to the American market it abandoned in 1991,” wrote MotorTrend magazine. Introduced in 2001 and continuing through 2007, the Spyder was Maserati’s first new-generation convertible, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, combining Italian elegance with high-performance engineering aimed at competing with luxury roadsters from Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

At its heart was a 4.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 developed by Ferrari, producing 390 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a traditional six-speed manual or the Formula One-inspired “Cambiocorsa” (meaning “race change”) electro-hydraulic manual gearbox with paddle shifters, as seen here. This powertrain delivered a 0–60 mph time of around 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph, making it one of the fastest convertibles of its era. Only 3,889 Spyders were produced during its run.

This 42k-mile example is finished in black-on-black and is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the current owner with factory manuals and a clean title.
