In 1991, Chevrolet’s Corvette introduced bold new design language and features to keep the all-American sports car at the top of its game.

Its exterior adopted an updated front fascia with integrated wraparound fog lamps, along with handsome rectangular taillights. Combined with the C4’s naturally angular design and new 17” “sawblade” wheels, its looks and its aerodynamics were improved. And inside, the 1991 model wore hybrid analog/digital instrumentation, and showcased improved interior ergonomics, a driver-side airbag, a removable roof panel, and the PASS-Key theft deterrent system.

Under the hood, tweaks to the torquey, 5.7L L98 V8 resulted in 250 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of twist. That mill — which was also sporting a new engine oil cooler — was paired with the driver’s choice of either a four-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. The compliant suspension was comfortable, yet still capable of approaching .90g through the turns.
