Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SE was part of the W126 generation of the S-Class, widely regarded as one of the most well-engineered luxury sedans of its era. Introduced in 1980 and produced until 1985, the 380SE featured a standard-length wheelbase and was powered by the M116 3.8-liter V8 engine. This naturally aspirated SOHC V8 produced 204 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, and was paired with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.
Built with a focus on safety, durability, and understated elegance, the W126 series introduced innovations like improved aerodynamics, ABS brakes, and extensive use of lightweight materials. The 380SE’s design emphasized clean lines and a spacious, comfortable interior for five passengers.
In the U.S., the 380SE was popular among luxury buyers, though many opted to import gray-market versions from Europe due to favorable exchange rates. This Euro example is finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over blue cloth upholstery and equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, and 14” steel wheels.
