Description
Built on the SJ platform by American Motors Corporation, the 1973 Jeep Wagoneer blended rugged off-road capability with unprecedented comfort. Competing against the Ford Bronco and Chevy Blazer, the Wagoneer featured a boxy yet refined design, highlighted by the distinctive “cheese-grater” grille and optional woodgrain side paneling. Under the hood, most models carried the AMC 360 V8 engine, delivering 175 horsepower and paired with a three-speed automatic here.
A standout innovation was the Quadra-Trac fulltime four-wheel-drive system, introduced for ’73, which simplified traction management compared to traditional part-time systems. Inside, the Wagoneer offered plush seating, carpeting, and available luxuries like air conditioning and power windows — rare for utility vehicles of the era.
According to the original owner--who the current owner reportedly purchased the vehicle from in September 2022--this 1973 Jeep Wagoneer still retains factory Fawn Beige paint with custom pinstriping and simulated wood body panels, and factory Fawn Beige vinyl upholstery with plaid cloth bench-seat inserts, along with the factory 360ci V8, automatic gearbox, roof rack with rear air deflector, and factory AM/FM/8-Track stereo. An electronic fuel-injection system is also fitted.
