Description
The 1972 Pontiac Ventura II marked the second year of Pontiac’s compact car offering based on GM’s X-body platform, shared with the Chevrolet Nova. Introduced in 1971, the Ventura II was Pontiac’s answer to the growing demand for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, while still offering a touch of style and performance.
Visually, the Ventura II distinguished itself from its Nova sibling with Pontiac’s signature split grille and upscale trim. Available as a two-door coupe or four-door sedan, the 1972 model retained much of the previous year’s styling. Engine offerings ranged from the base Chevrolet 250 cubic-inch inline-six to a 350 cu-in four-barrel V8. Though overshadowed by Pontiac’s muscle cars of the era, the Ventura II offered a practical, stylish alternative in the compact segment and laid the groundwork for future models like the Pontiac Phoenix.
This 1972 Pontiac Ventura II is the ultimate sleeper — visually true to its vintage roots but purpose-built to unleash explosive performance. This comprehensively restored streetcar, with its unassuming stock appearance (it has not been tubbed) is capable of 10-second quarter-mile times while wearing OEM-style steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps.
