Description
The 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J was part of the second generation of Pontiac’s personal luxury coupe, introduced in 1969. Designed under John DeLorean, the Grand Prix combined muscle car performance with upscale styling. The Model J served as the base trim, featuring a 400ci V8 engine rated at 250 horsepower, paired with a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Known for its long hood, short deck proportions, and distinctive split grille, the Grand Prix offered comfort features like bucket seats, wood-grain accents, and optional power accessories. Despite tightening emissions standards, the 1972 Grand Prix remained a strong seller and a hallmark of Pontiac’s performance-luxury formula.
Finished in Cardinal Red white vinyl bucket seats, this 1972 Model J features a rebuilt 400ci V8, rebuilt Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, replaced exhaust system with street-legal headers, a correct radiator and transmission cooler, and replaced fuel and brake lines. A manual choke has been added, and the seller reports roughly 2,000 miles since the work was completed.
This 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J is now offered with some spare parts and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information
From the seller, “I purchased the car in 2015 in Palm Bay, Florida. I attended car rallies, hot rod nights, and drove it every week. In 2016, I moved back to Ohio and had the car shipped there. I rarely drove it after that, but it always drew attention! Driving it was tons of fun and earned plenty of thumbs-ups. I will truly miss this car.”
