Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Although styling changes to the 1972 Chevrolet Corvette were minimal compared to ’71 models, the ’72 Stingray was the last Corvette to feature full-chrome front and rear bumpers before federal safety regulations required a transition to body colored, flexible urethane bumpers.

Available in two body styles — a Sport Coupe with a removable roof panel and a Convertible with a folding soft top — the Corvette offered buyers a choice of three V8 engines, including a standard 350ci V8.

This ’72 Convertible is finished in Ontario Orange with a white convertible soft top over Saddle vinyl upholstery with cloth seat inserts. The car also has dual exhaust, a driver’s rearview mirror, concealed windshield wipers, 15” steel wheels with chrome rings and hubcaps, independent front and rear suspension, variable-ratio power steering, bucket seats, a tachometer, center console, and a radio.

The convertible’s original 350ci engine was swapped for a Ram Jet-equipped 350ci V8, and modifications are reported to include Vortec cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, an Edelbrock Performer 650-cfm carburetor, and an electric fuel pump. It is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, the power disc brake system was upgraded with stainless steel components, calipers, and silicone brake fluid, an aluminum exhaust was added, and the rear springs and fuel tank were replaced.

The car was acquired by its current owner in July 1996.

This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Michigan title in the owner's name.

Additional Information

The owner states, “This car’s first 20-plus years were in Oklahoma, a very dry climate, then it was always garaged in Michigan. Driven limited miles, never in bad weather, leaving the frame and birdcage in very good condition. The original engine was replaced with a Chevrolet Ram Jet 350 V8 featuring Vortec cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, an Edelbrock Performer 650-cfm carburetor, and an electric fuel pump. The brake system was upgraded with stainless steel components, calipers, and silicone brake fluid. In addition, the rear springs and fuel tank were replaced and an aluminum exhaust and a kill switch were added.”
