Description

When the Datsun 240Z debuted in 1969, it reshaped the global sports car landscape. With its long hood, short deck proportions, and a smooth-revving inline-six engine, the 240Z offered performance and styling that rivaled European icons—at a fraction of the cost. It quickly earned a reputation for reliability, affordability, and driving enjoyment, becoming a symbol of Nissan’s engineering prowess and a cornerstone of the Japanese automotive invasion. Today, the 240Z remains one of the most beloved and collectible Japanese classics, celebrated for its timeless design and motorsport pedigree.

This 1971 Datsun 240Z is a well-preserved example of the early S30 platform. It has benefitted from a thorough refurbishment that respects its original character while enhancing its mechanical integrity. The car shows 61,354 miles on the odometer, which is believed to have rolled over once—consistent with its age and usage. The seller notes, “It runs and drives beautifully, with minimal imperfections and a clean overall presentation.”

Repainted in its original Monte Carlo Red hue over original-style interior, this left-hand-drive U.S.-market model retains its iconic silhouette and the desirable L24 inline-six engine. While the factory AM radio is currently inoperative, all other systems are reported to be in excellent working order, making this a turn-key example ready for spirited drives or weekend shows.
