Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1971 Jaguar XKE Fixed‑Head Coupé represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of one of Britain’s most celebrated sports cars. Introduced as part of the Series 3 E‑Type, the 1971 model marked a major engineering transition with the debut of Jaguar’s new 5.3‑liter DOHC V12 engine. This power plant replaced the legendary XK straight‑six in coupe and convertible models, delivering smoother performance, greater refinement, and a substantial increase in torque. Its design improvements were aimed at meeting U.S. emissions regulations while preserving the E‑Type’s reputation for effortless speed.

Visually, the 1971 E-Type featured a larger, more prominent grille, flared wheel arches, and a wider track to accommodate updated cooling and suspension components. All Fixed‑Head Coupé models now featured 2+2 seating. Power steering and improved brakes became standard, giving the V12 Coupe a more grand‑touring character compared to earlier, more overtly sporting E‑Types. However, Bob Tullius captured the SCCA B‑Production National Championship for Jaguar in three consecutive seasons: 1974, 1975, and 1976 in a Series 3 E‑Type, so performance was hardly lacking.

This 1971 Series 3 Fixed‑Head Coupé is finished in Pale Primrose and is said to remain in largely factory specification aside from an updated stereo. It is now offered at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a clean Mississippi title in the current owner's name.
